> 7 gennaio 2011. Un anno dopo
> A demonstration was held in Rosarno to mark a year after hundreds of African seasonal workers were chased out of the town after protesting against the ill-treatment that they suffered. The Rete Radici network is monitoring conditions in the area after the revolt which unveiled the exploitation that migrant workers experience, and has published a report.

> Comunicato corteo 14 dicembre 2010
> This statement by the students' network Rete della conoscenza celebrates the dozens of demonstrations held throughout Italy on 14 December 2010 involving "hundreds of thousands of middle school, high school and university students" to complain against minister Gelmini's reform of the public education system. It highlights that in Rome the city was militarised and deserted, and juxtaposes the repression outside the parliament with the situation inside it, "reduced to a ridiculous cattle market", in reference to the vote of confidence won by Berlusconi.

> Serraino Vulpitta - Noi non dimentichiamo. Ad 11 anni dalla strage appello per una manifestazione
> Eleven years on from the fire in Trapani's detention centre, Serraino Vulpitta, the Comitato 29 dicembre 1999 has organised a meeting-debate on 18 December and a demonstration on 29 December, both of them in Trapani. The call refers to the sequence of events: an escape attempt that was violently put down, the locking of 12 detainees in a cell, their burning of a mattress to have the cell door opened, the death of three people in the blaze and a further three in hospital as a result of their injuries, the trial on charges of manslaughter brought against the prefetto that ended with an acquittal, the state's responsibility and compensation granted to two survivors, and the likelihood that a new centre will soon be opened in the city. This year's anniversary is deemed important because in spite of the violence, human rights violations, cost and ineffectiveness of the detention system, the number of centres (CIEs) is set to rise.

> Brescia, come nasce un problema di ordine pubblico
> This video shows how a group of people in Brescia who were holding an assembly to support six migrants who had been on top of a crane to demand regularisation since 30 October 2010, were treated aggressively by the police, with an officer appearing to order an unnecessary charge. The morning's events resulted in dozens of arrests, of Italians and migrants alike. The title, in reference to the police officer's behaviour is significant: "how a public order problem is born".

> Appel pour une manifestation nationale et unitaire contre le ministere de l’Immigration et sa politique
> Call for national and unitary demonstration against the immigration ministry and its policy, as a response to the creation of this ministry in 2007 after Sarkozy's election as president, whose formal name is: the ministry of immigration, integration, national identity and co-development. The call mentions the tens of thousands who are "tracked, arrested and expelled, including to places where there are wars like Afghanistan", policies that are described as betraying Republican ideals, human rights commitments and basic humanitarian principles. The "pseudo-debate" about national identity and recent "hunt" against Roma people are other "disastrous" effects, and the signatory associations and individuals call for a nationwide mobilisation in May 2011.

> Demonstration for Jimmy Mubenga
> Friday 12 November 2010 at 10.30am. On 12 October 2010, Jimmy Mubenga an Angolan man died during a forced deportation from the UK. The Guardian reported that Jimmy was handcuffed and restrained by three private security guards on a British Airways flight from Heathrow. Shortly before he died, Jimmy was heard by other passengers crying out for help. In 2008 research by the charity Medical Justice found that guards regularly used excessive force during deportations.

> Noborder camp Brussels
> From 25 September to 3 October, a NoBorder camp will take place in and around Brussels, with demonstrations, public lectures and actions for freedom of movement of people and against repressive migration control. By now a regular feature of the European political landscape, noborder camps are organised to intervene in the migration control regime inland (detention centres) and across borders (border control) and link different struggles and share information in autonomous spaces. The Brussels noborder camp will focus on the Belgian presidency of the EU and the externalisation of border control, and start with the commemoration of Semira Adamu, a Nigerian asylum seeker who was killed in 1998 by Belgian police during her forceful deportation.

> Demonstrations against Libya's treatment and deportation of Eritreans
> There were nationwide demonstrations on 8 July 2010, following news of the ill-treatment suffered by Eritreans in Libyan detention centres and in particular of a group of 200 of them, some of whom were refouled by Italy in last year's notorious mass refoulements at sea. The news surfaced shortly after UNHCR was made to leave Libya, and the Eritreans were facing expulsion back to their country where they risked inhumane punishment. The incident has been an embarrassment for Italy, whose cooperation with Libya over the past years has had a devastating effect on the human rights of migrants, particularly as regards their possibilities of fleeing persecution and seeking asylum.
